Funding on Omni settles on a variable interval, ranging from 1 to 8 hours depending on the market.
Funding is exchanged only at the close of each interval, not continuously, and settles between counterparties at that point. A positive funding rate means longs pay shorts; a negative rate means shorts pay longs.
To keep rates aligned with the broader market, each contract's funding interval follows a waterfall designed to match the major centralized venues:
If the market is listed on Bybit, Omni matches Bybit's funding interval.
If not, but it is listed on Binance, Omni matches Binance's interval.
If neither lists the market, the interval defaults to 1 hour.
Because funding accrues only at the end of the interval, the displayed hourly funding rate reads 0 during the intervening hours. For example, BTC exists on Bybit with an 8-hour interval: across hours 1–7 the hourly rate shows 0, and in hour 8 the rate is calculated from the preceding 8 hours of data and settled.
For how the rate itself is derived, see Funding Rates documentation.
